The Blue House Quintet and Triangle Intercollegiate Swing Dance Competition – March 30, 2017

14102736_133694057081430_5054885027714646829_nThe Blue House Quintet has the distinction of being the only dance band for swing dancers in the US made up entirely of college students (that we are aware of – we’ll make this claim and stand on it until refuted!) and we’re excited to present them in the Lindy Lab space for your dancing pleasure. We are also excited to announce that the Blue House Quintet will be playing live music for the very first Triangle Intercollegiate Swing Dance Competition!

WHAT’S THAT YOU SAY? That’s right, we’re inviting all college students (undergraduate and graduate) to compete in a Jack and Jill competition – if you’re new to competing, no worries, this is a great way to get your foot in the door. With Jack and Jill competitions it’s always a friendly competition and you are paired randomly with partners – maybe you will know your partner, maybe you won’t, but it will definitely be an adventure! Sign up during the first set, if there are enough people we will have prelims during the first band break (around 9:00 p.m.) and the competition will be at the end of the second set. Any swing dance will qualify – east coast swing, Lindy Hop, Balboa, whatever you’ve got in your skills pocket.

Beginner lesson with Hilary Buuck and Doug Noel from 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Studio 4, next door to the Lindy Lab studio.

8 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. – dance in The Lindy Lab back studio (with the orange door frame) at Triangle Dance Studio.

Admission is pay what you can with a $10 suggested donation to the band.
